Self-hosted services
Photos, documents, files, mail and passwords on my own server, with backups and watched deploys.
Problem
Cloud services for photos, documents and passwords cost money ongoing and hand over control. Several of my own applications also need reliable operations.
Solution
Immich for photos, Paperless for documents, Nextcloud for files, my own mail server and Vaultwarden for passwords, all on one Linux server. Databases are backed up externally every day, and a restore is actually tried.
My role
I choose the services, decide what gets backed up, and for every deploy decide on the rollback path and the check.
What the AI does
The AI writes configurations and scripts. For every change the rule is: clarify the rollback first, then roll out, watch for five minutes, roll back at once on errors.
A security automation checks status and errors regularly. Errors gather in GlitchTip so they do not vanish into a log file.
